Umbria Passenger Arrival List

Passenger arrival list for the Umbria sailing from Liverpool on June 25, 1904, and arriving in New York on July 3, 1904.

It appears that the entire page was filled in by one person, not the passengers, probably prior to departure, and then some changes (to names, ages, etc.) made later by another person, perhaps upon arrival. The date of departure, apparently done with a rubber stamp, is barely visible on the copy made from the microfilm. For the date of arrival, it appears that "July,1904" was written when the page was originally filled out, and the "3" inserted upon/after arrival.

The Wilder family members are listed as: "Emanuel, Rachella, Anna, Jacques, Abram, Margaretha, Joseph, Amalie and Solomon.

There is a line through Rachella and Rachel inserted above. In addition, Rachella may be spelled either Raichella or Raechella. The line through her name makes it hard to discern if there is indeed another letter between the the a and the c. Likewise, there is a line through Jacques, and Jacob is inserted above.

Ages are listed as: Emanuel 54; Rachel 50 changed to 46 (she was probably about 47 or 48); Anna 18 (she was probably 19 at the time); Jacob 11 changed to 12 (he should have been about 15 at the time); Abram 10 changed to 11; Margaretha 9; Joseph 8 changed to 7 (he probably was 8); Amalie 4; Solomon 3.

Under "Calling or Occupation": Emanuel is listed as a "merchant"; Rachel as a "wife"; Anna as a "child", then changed to "servant"; and the rest as "child". It appears that children too young to be employed are simply listed as "child".

Under "Nationality (Country owing political allegiance)": all are listed as "Roumania".

Under "Race or People": all are listed as "Hebrew".

Under "Last Residence": all are listed as "Ploesti".
