Sam & Ruby Boran

Manya's parents Sam and Ruby Boran. Sam was born in Safed, then Palestine, in 1881. He came to Denver with his mother and went to school there. Sam met Ruby in 1912 while visiting his first cousin who was married to Ruby's brother. They were married in 1913.

Ruby was born Shani Rifka Feiner, January 9, 1882 in Kishinev, then Bessarabia, Russia, and died July 5, 1985, at the age of 103 1/2, in Los Angeles, California.

Ruby survived some of the big pogroms as a child. She had 10 siblings, six of whom came in pairs to America before her. Ruby came alone in 1910, and worked in Michigan, and then Denver, Colorado, until she had enough money to bring her parents and remaining four siblings to Denver.

Manya's parents changed their last name from Bornstein to Boran after Manya and Bud were married.
